Woodland Camping

Camping in our birchwood is perhaps the nearest thing to wild camping that isn't wild camping! So you get an individual, levelled pitch amongst the trees that offers a bit more privacy than camping in the open. But you also get the facilities you'd expect at a good small-medium sized campsite. All pitches have their own firepit. You can bring your own firewood, buy logs here (£7 for a big sack), or go foraging up in the High Wood for your own - a 20 minute walk up the hill. Please note that its very important NOT to gather firewood from either the camping wood itself, or Fee's wood which is just above the High Meadow. Dead wood is a really important part of the ecology of these woodlands.

It is a 1-2 minute walk from most of the woodland pitches to the facilities and car park. So its best for those who prioritise the most natural setting over convenience. The pitch sizes are physically restricted by trees and the lay of the land to smaller tents (no bigger than 3.5 x 3.5m or up to a standard single roomed 4-person tent).

You can choose your pitch and see the lay of the land on the map here.

Prices

Book online or give us a call on 01764 670140. To keep the tents fairly low density the full sign does go up most weekends in season so do book as far in advance as you can. Having said that, we'll always find a spot for you if you've just cycled 50 miles to get here!

2 night minimum booking at weekends, Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday - unless you are booking less than 7 days in advance.
