Eco Camping

Welcome to wild style camping, with nice facilities. Think camp fires, space, and lots of wild nature. Choose from four car-free areas open all year and a couple of extra ones in the summer. All pitches have a fire pit. Wheel barrows are provided to make it easy getting your kit to where you want to pitch in the meadows. Check out our map for locations.

Birch Woods: The nearest thing to wild camping that isn't wild camping. Individual pitches in the dappled light amongst the trees. Great for smaller tents 3.5m x 3.5m max. 50-300m from the facilities and car parking.

Low Meadow: Adjacent to the main facilities, car park and bike skills park so popular with families with young children. Can accommodate 6 tents of any size, with plenty of room to play.

High Meadow: It's all about the views up here. Space for up to 20 well spread out tents. You can take your car to the edge of the High Meadow at arrival and departure time and it has it's own toilets, wash-up area (cold non-potable water only) and a big roundhouse shelter for everyone with central fire/bbq. For car-parking, the cafe, showers, drinking water and other facilities it's a 200m walk down the hill.

The Drum: Slightly higher up than the High Meadow, ten pitches 100m walk to the High Meadow toilets and car drop off/pick up area. Even better views!

Campervans: Nestling at the edge of the birch woods and the bike skills park you’ll find five campervan bays. Suitable for small to medium sized campervans (6m long max) they enjoy uninterrupted views over the valley.  Please note we don't have electric hook ups or sanitary disposal and the pitches aren't generally suitable for awnings.

Far Away Meadow: 200m from the High Meadow facilities, the Far Away Meadow is the wildest of the meadow areas, with mown areas in between uncut meadow grasses. While all the Croft's views are good, these ones are our favourite. As the name suggests it's 200m uphill from the nearest car access (wheel barrows provided) and toilets, and 400m from the cafe, showers and drinking water. But we reckon that's a price worth paying for our best wild camping experience.

Summer Camping Fields: Summer weekends only - Large & spacious fields with car access around the field edges. 200m from the main facilities. Ideal if you can't help but bring the kitchen sink! Sorry, no campervans.

Love where you are

We take great care to minimise any impacts on the environment: the lower shower block lighting runs from wind and solar power, while the upper block - the one with a turf roof - is completely off-grid . We are a bit obsessed with reusing and recycling. Please do your bit by seperating out your recyclables (nearly everything!) rather than dumping bags of mixed materials in the general waste bin. Remember - it only becomes waste if we don't seperate and recycle it!

Facilities included: hot showers, toilets, washing up area (x1 Low Meadow, x1 High Meadow); car-parking; fridge-freezer (one only - limited capacity); microwave; drinking water; recycling; fire-bowls/pits
